An article entitled “Bankruptcy Group of the Year: Kramer Levin” published on January 11 in Law 360 described the achievements of the department in the past year. Among them are representations of General Maritime, Saint Vincent Catholic Medical Centers, Bank of New York Mellon, creditors’ committees in the Residential Capital and Hostess bankruptcies, Aurelius Capital Management LP in the Washington Mutual case, the largest bondholders in the American Airlines case, and an ad hoc group of holders in the Jefferson County, Alabama's Chapter 9 case.

Corporate Restructuring and Bankruptcy co-chair Kenneth H. Eckstein was quoted regarding the Res Cap and General Maritime bankruptcies. The firm worked with multiple industries this year and Eckstein added, "It's an advantage and also makes the practice most interesting...By seeing these cases from different angles, you're in a better position to give clients good advice." Corporate Restructuring and Bankruptcy co-chair Thomas Moers Mayer was quoted, saying "It's made for an extremely intensive, diverse and cutting edge practice this year...It's been a standout year in 2012."
