The May 22, 2012 issue of the New York Real Estate Journal featured Land Use partner Elise Wagner in the Annual Women in Real Estate Spotlight. The profile touched on a variety of topics, from her career path and accomplishments, to the use of social media and advice for women just starting their commercial real estate careers.

Asked about her most meaningful professional accomplishments, Ms. Wagner said they include working part-time with a full-time professional level of client representation while raising her twin daughters, and making partner once she resumed her career full-time, as well as serving as co-chair of the Building Committee of Temple Beth El of Northern Westchester.

Ms. Wagner said that she considers her representation of NYU Langone Medical Center in obtaining variances from the New York City Board of Standard and Appeals to permit the implementation of its physical master plan, which includes a number of new buildings, to be one of the “game changer” projects in the advancement of her career. She also said that John Zuccotti has been the strongest influence on her career, citing his approach to client advocacy and commitment to public service.

Commenting on social media and advice for women beginning their commercial real estate careers, Ms. Wagner said that she uses groups on Facebook and LinkedIn to stay in touch with people in her field and related fields, and law school and college alumni. She said that women starting out in commercial real estate should seek out and maintain connections with experienced practitioners.

Ms. Wagner said that over the next ten years she would like to continue to be a leader in Kramer Levin’s Land Use group, and continue her pro bono efforts.
