Litigation chairman and partner and firm co-chair Gary P. Naftalis was profiled on the The Wall Street Journal Law Blog. The post referred to Gary as being on the "very short list of New York white-collar defense lawyers" one might want to call when facing "extremely high-profile insider-trading charges." The article focused on Mr. Naftalis' involvement in most of the major white collar criminal cases of the past thirty years, including his current representation of Rajat Gupta, the former Managing Director Worldwide of McKinsey. It noted his successful defenses in the 1980s of the former head of Salomon Brothers and individuals and institutions in the investigation of Drexel Burnham, and his more recent wins for the Chairman and Founder of Global Crossing, the former Chair of the New York Stock Exchange Compensation Committee, Kenneth Langone, and New York City in the Deutsche Bank fire case. His service as an Assistant U.S. Attorney in the Southern District of New York, and Deputy Chief of the Criminal Division, as well as his post as Special Counsel to the U.S. Senate Subcommittee investigating abuses in the nursing home industry were mentioned. The post observed that Gary "has had his fingers in just about every major criminal case involving Wall Street and its heavies."
