ACQUISITION OF FIVE PARTNERS FROM WHITMAN BREED ABBOTT & MORGAN
EXPANDS KRAMER LEVIN’S FAST-GROWING PRACTICE

NEW YORK - KRAMER LEVIN NAFTALIS & FRANKEL LLP today announced that five partners of the intellectual property department at Whitman, Breed, Abbott & Morgan LLP will be joining the firm shortly. The group includes department head Barry Evans, and also his colleagues Paul D. Connuck, Gregor N. Neff, George B. Snyder and William J. Spatz.

The addition will further enhance Kramer Levin’s intellectual property law practice. Kramer Levin’s intellectual property and technology law department, chaired by Nicholas L. Coch, will have more than 40 attorneys who practice intellectual property law exclusively.

"I have known Barry and his group for more than 20 years, and their expertise will dovetail perfectly with our practice. Together we will have the capabilities to better service clients’ needs as their reliance on technology increases," said Mr. Coch.

"The need and demand for talented intellectual property attorneys has become paramount as our clients rely more and more on technology and related areas," said Scott S. Rosenblum, the firm's managing partner. "This addition will enable us to continue to provide clients with both the excellent work and immediate responsiveness they have come to expect and receive from Kramer Levin."

He added, "Barry's reputation in the field speaks for itself; his group displays the excellence and has accumulated the experience that meets the high standards our firm exhibits in this and other practice areas."

The new group has handled numerous intellectual property matters for domestic and foreign clients in diverse areas including pharmaceuticals, biotechnology, petrochemicals, diagnostics, electronics, computers, and the fast-growing area of e-commerce. The group's attorneys have many years of litigation experience in the areas of patents, trademarks, copyrights, and trade secrets, and its members are well-versed in protecting and exploiting intellectual property rights on a worldwide basis.

"Kramer Levin’s entrepreneurial and collegial spirit has caught our eye and impressed us during our recent discussions," Mr. Evans said. "Our practice will mesh perfectly with the complex work already handled by the firm; we look forward to a smooth integration with our new colleagues."

Kramer Levin’s current intellectual property lawyers have handled many notable intellectual property matters for American Standard, Honda, Johnson & Johnson, L’Oreal, S.A., Nokia, Procter & Gamble, Starwood Hotels & Resorts and other large corporate clients, and handle all intellectual property work worldwide for the Sunbeam Corporation.
