Kramer Levin alumni, and newlyweds, Alison Sclater and Wells Dixon were profiled in a New York Law Journal article on September 7. The couple, both litigation associates, met during Ms. Sclater's first day of work at Kramer Levin. Their work eventually brought them together on a pro bono case involving detainees at Guantánamo Bay in Cuba - a case that twice sent them on the difficult trip to Guantánamo together and solidified their relationship. Their work contributed to securing the release of several of the clients.

Ms. Sclater now works as director of pro bono services at the New York Legal Assistance Group and Mr. Dixon as a staff attorney with the Center for Constitutional Rights. Jeffrey Trachtman, Chair of the firm's Pro Bono Committee, is quoted as saying that he is not surprised the two found each other, as "love blooms through pro bono work." He also notes that the firm attracts many young lawyers eager to do pro bono work, many of who fold it into their commercial careers.
