Kramer Levin favorably resolved an eviction proceeding brought against our client, Worth Motorcycle Company, a non-profit that trains at-risk youth in the art of vintage motorcycle restoration. The landlord filed suit to evict Worth Motorcycle after it complained about the lack of basic utilities to the unit, arguing that the oral lease was terminable at will, notwithstanding the company’s investment of thousands of dollars to renovate and improve the unit. Kramer Levin negotiated a very favorable settlement, which included an additional six-month tenancy and other concessions, after moving to dismiss the proceedings. Associate Randall E. Allen was lead attorney for the team. Former Brooklyn Legal Services housing court externs, associate Anna C. Schoenfelder and special counsel Aaron Frankel, supervised.
