On May 14th, in honor of Asian Pacific American Heritage Month, Kramer Levin Naftalis & Frankel LLP hosted the Honorable Jeffrey K. Oing, Justice of the Supreme Court of the State of New York. Justice Oing was introduced by Kenneth Chin, head of Kramer Levin’s Banking and Finance practice and college classmate of the Justice. The event was publicized to the greater legal community and attended by Kramer Levin attorneys, local law students, outside business professionals and members of the Asian Bar Association.

At the event, Justice Oing discussed his background and shared unique insights into issues he has faced throughout his distinguished legal career in private practice, public service and the judiciary. In addition to sharing insight on his professional life, Justice Oing also discussed the personal support he experienced throughout his career and the importance of giving back.

The event with Justice Oing is part of Kramer Levin’s diversity series which includes Cultural Heritage Month Celebrations. The purpose of these events is to showcase diversity in the workplace and educate lawyers about the importance of a diverse population.

“Kramer Levin believes that promoting diversity must remain a continuous process and the firm’s Cultural Heritage Month Celebrations series is one of several programs we have implemented to support this mission” said Lauren Tapper, Kramer Levin’s Director of Diversity.

Justice Oing has over twenty years of legal and administrative experience, the majority of which has been in public service. He was elected to the Supreme Court of the State of New York on November 2, 2010, and took office on January 1, 2011. Justice Oing presides over a general IA Part with a case inventory of approximately 500 cases. He handles jury and nonjury trials involving personal injury, commercial, and governmental matters.
