Kramer Levin Naftalis & Frankel LLP announced today that Valerie G. Campbell has been promoted to counsel. She was previously a special counsel at the law firm.

Ms. Campbell is a member of Kramer Levin’s Land Use Department, the largest legal practice devoted to land use in New York City. She concentrates her practice in land use, historic preservation and environmental law. She has extensive experience in addressing, from both the private and public perspective, municipal land use issues at the Landmarks Preservation Commission, the Department of City Planning, and the Board of Standards and Appeals.

“Valerie is a vigorous and effective advocate for her clients before the city’s land use agencies,” said Kramer Levin Land Use Department Co-chair Paul D. Selver. “Her many years of land use practice – and in particular her unparalleled experience with historic preservation law – contribute materially to delivering on our firm’s promise of unsurpassed legal service to the real estate industry. We are proud to practice with her.”

“Valerie’s creativity and insight, particularly with respect to landmarks issues, have often been crucial factors in the success of our clients’ projects,” added Kramer Levin Land Use department Co-chair Michael T. Sillerman. “Her promotion underscores the value she brings to our clients as well as our team.”

Ms. Campbell is a member of the Land Use Planning & Zoning Committee of the Association of the Bar of the City of New York. She also co-authored with Mr. Selver annual updates to “The New York Practice Guide: Real Estate, Volume II; Land Use Regulation.”

Prior to joining Kramer Levin, Ms. Campbell was general counsel to the New York City Landmarks Preservation Commission and deputy counsel to the New York City Department of Parks and Recreation. She earned her bachelor’s degree from Bryn Mawr College, her master’s degree in regional planning from the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill, and her J.D., with honors, from the University of North Carolina School of Law.
