Kramer Levin Naftalis & Frankel LLP announced today the launch of its “green” blog, “GreenEsq.” at www.GreenEsqBlog.com. The blog is an interdepartmental effort of the Manhattan-based law firm’s Real Estate, Land Use and Environmental practices. The blog will serve as a helpful resource to the real estate community by reporting on the latest environmental law and green building news.

“Green concepts have really caught on and are constantly evolving,” said Charles Warren, partner and Chair of Kramer Levin’s Environmental practice. “Formerly it was an elective matter whether a developer would ‘go green’ regarding a specific building project, but increasingly it is a matter of legal mandate as it relates to zoning, building code, construction materials and other issues pertinent to the built environment. This blog is simply an expedient and accessible means of broadly disseminating up-to-the-minute green development information to our clients. It will cover the changing regulatory landscape as it relates to environmental compliance, zoning, building code and historic preservation matters.”

“The combined resources and talent of our firm’s preeminent Real Estate, Land Use and Environmental practices allows us to create an authoritative legal resource for the real estate community at large,” said Paul Selver, Co-Chair of Kramer Levin’s Land Use practice. “Six of our attorneys are LEED-certified and one of our partners served as a regional administrator for the United States Environmental Protection Agency. In addition, our partner who is dedicated to land use litigation will contribute timely updates on both the substance and practical implications of decisions in this evolving area of the law.”

The Kramer Levin Land Use practice is the largest and most experienced such legal practice in New York City, handling all aspects of site development, including zoning changes, special permits, variances, landmarks proceedings, air rights transfers, condemnation/eminent domain, tax abatements, waterfront development and economic development incentives for a diverse client roster. The firm’s Real Estate practice is among the most highly regarded of its kind with attorneys providing counsel to a number of real estate developers and owners, investment bankers, merchant and commercial bankers, hoteliers and others in the areas of development, leasing, tax incentives, sales and acquisitions and litigation. The Kramer Levin Environmental practice is unrivaled in providing counseling to regulated business operators and real estate developers, community facilities and governmental entities on a myriad of compliance issues and permit matters.
