Kramer Levin successfully represented a defendant on a criminal appeal to the First Department following a conviction for possession of a gravity knife. Attorneys raised arguments as to the merits of the conviction and the sentence that defendant received. Following oral arguments, the Court found that defendant had been improperly sentenced based on an inadequate predicate felony conviction and remanded the matter for resentencing.

Litigation associate Noah Hertz-Bunzl drafted the brief, with supervision from Litigation partner Paul H. Schoeman and Legal Aid Society’s David Crow. Paralegal Mariah Vitali assisted with the matter.
