Thomas Moers Mayer, a corporate restructuring and bankruptcy partner at Kramer Levin Naftalis & Frankel LLP, was recently elected to membership in the National Bankruptcy Conference (NBC). The NBC is a non-profit organization of approximately 60 lawyers, law professors, and bankruptcy judges who are leading scholars and practitioners in the field of bankruptcy law. The NBC’s primary purpose is to advise Congress on the operation of bankruptcy and related laws and any proposed changes to those laws. Membership in the organization is by invitation only.

At Kramer Levin, Mr. Mayer’s practice includes representing investors in claims against, and interests in, financially distressed businesses. Recent representations include official creditors’ committees in Dana Corporation and Dura Automotive Systems Inc., majority noteholders in ASARCO LLC, secured noteholders in WCI Steel, Inc., official equity committee in W.R. Grace, largest secured creditor in Venture Holdings, largest shareholder in NorthWestern Corporation, creditors’ committee in Bethlehem Steel, and Wheeling-Pittsburgh Corp.

In addition, Turnaround Magazine has twice listed Mr. Mayer as one of the top restructurings lawyers in the U.S. He is also consistently ranked as a top-tier attorney in his practice area by Chambers USA, Best Lawyers, Super Lawyers and Lawdragon, among other prestigious rankings.
