Hubert de Vauplane writes a piece in the June 2013 issue of the French publication Revue Banque and asserts that the major monotheist religions have an interpretation of the financial crisisgoing far beyond the usual technical or political explanations: the financial crisis reveals the deaper crisis of the meaning of human life, today lacking common collective values and individual moral refernce points, and exclusively profit-driven. Religions understand this as a decline of Western civilization that urgently needs to be stopped.
