Kramer Levin Naftalis & Frankel LLP is pleased to congratulate Gary Naftalis for being named today to the National Law Journal’s list of the “100 Most Influential Lawyers in America.” Mr. Naftalis, who leads Kramer Levin’s litigation department and serves as the firm’s co-chair, also made the elite list in 2006, the last time the National Law Journal compiled it.

The publication described Mr. Naftalis as “a master of persuasion.” It stated that he “has been a key figure in the defense bar for decades” and praised his work defending Rajat Gupta, former Managing Director Worldwide of McKinsey, in one of the most prominent trials of 2012.

“This is a great honor for Gary, and it is a testament to the masterful work he has performed for our clients throughout his career,” said Paul Pearlman, Kramer Levin’s managing partner.

Mr. Naftalis for some 40 years has represented individuals and corporations in all phases of complex bet-the-company civil, criminal, and regulatory matters, including those involving allegations of insider trading, market manipulation, accounting irregularities, stock options backdating and other financial fraud. He also has served as counsel to audit and special committees of a number of major public companies in connection with regulatory issues.

Mr. Naftalis has received many other honors. Chambers USA gave him its Award for Excellence in White Collar Crime and Government Investigations in 2011. Legal 500 has named him one of the “10 Leading Trial Lawyers in the United States,” and he was also cited as one of America’s leading lawyers in the Lawdragon 500. Super Lawyers in 2012 named him one of the “Top 10 Lawyers in New York” as well as the top points recipient. He has been recognized by Best Lawyers in America since 1993 in five categories — Bet-the-Company Litigation, White Collar Criminal Defense, Regulatory Enforcement, Securities Litigation and Commercial Litigation.
