Partner and Pro Bono Committee Chair Jeffrey S. Trachtman was honored for his longtime service to the New York nonprofit community with Cause Effective's 2009 Legacy of Service Award. Jeff co-founded Cause Effective in 1981, served as its Board Chair until 1994, and recently stepped down after 28 years as a member of the board. The organization trains other nonprofits in resource development techniques, teaching them how to mobilize all constituencies to bring in crucial financial and volunteer support. Jeff was honored, along with another founding board member, Anita Nager, at a reception hosted by Kramer Levin and attended by a wide range of funders, clients, and friends of the organization and the honorees. Firm Co-Chair Gary P. Naftalis co-chaired the event and made welcoming remarks. In presenting Jeff with the award, Cause Effective Board Chair Lili Brown noted his key role in building the organization, his tireless efforts in support of other New York nonprofits, and his own pro bono legal work, including his leading role in LGBT rights litigation.

Jeff's achievement was noted in the "Accolades" section of the June 15, 2009 New York Law Journal.
