Pro Bono Report: Civil & Human Rights

FilmAid International.  FilmAid International is a Hollywood-oriented charitable organization created to bring films to refugee camps in Europe, Africa, and elsewhere; to create public information videos, teacher instruction videos, and public service announcements for refugee populations; and to create a platform for other organizations seeking to reach out to refugees to provide needed services.  Richard Moss and Bruce Rabb, a Director and the Corporate Secretary of FilmAid, assisted in the negotiation of a website hosting agreement with a vendor of hosting services.  Bruce also helped negotiate several other agreements relating to the client’s work in African refugee camps, guided the organization in the development of its corporate governance policies, and advised with respect to the legal aspects of its relationship with its UK affiliate.

Human Rights Watch.  Human Rights Watch is a nonprofit, nongovernmental organization dedicated to the protection of human rights worldwide.  Bruce Rabb provided ongoing legal assistance to the organization’s Board and Board committees on governance and other legal matters.

Project on Soldier Testimony and Human Rights.  Craig Siegel and Tracy Sigal provided legal advice regarding copyright law and general corporate matters to The Project on Soldier Testimony and Human Rights.  The advice related to the Project’s creation of a website designed to function as a global database on human rights abuses and conditions as witnessed by soldiers, police, and other state agents.  The Project believes that when state agents come forward with information about human rights conditions, their testimony can have a major impact on the public perception of human rights issues.  The Project is housed at the University of Maryland's Center for International Development and Conflict Management.
