Association for a Better New York. Abe Safdie provides ongoing corporate assistance to the Association for a Better New York, a leading civic organization.

Middle East Forum. The Middle East Forum is a think tank that works to define and promote American interests in the Middle East. The Forum holds that the United States has vital interests in the region; in particular, it believes in strong ties with Israel, Turkey, and other democracies as they emerge; works for human rights throughout the region; seeks a stable supply and a low price of oil; and promotes the peaceful settlement of regional and international disputes. Scott S. Rosenblum serves on the New York Board of Governors of the Middle East Forum and advises the Forum on general corporate matters.

Real Estate Board of New York. Jeffrey Braun and Toni Finger represented The Real Estate Board of New York, Inc. (“REBNY”), which appeared as amicus curiae, in opposition to an appeal filed by a group of individual newsstand owners and operators and a trade association of licensed newsstand operators that sought to enjoin enforcement of a local law regulating the ownership, installation, and maintenance of newsstands in New York City and the placement of advertisements on those newsstands. REBNY, a leading advocate for the real estate profession in New York City, supported the local law because it recognized that newsstands need to be sited in a way that protects the public from unsafe conditions, including pedestrian congestion, obstruction of important site lines for motor vehicle drivers, and obstacles near building entrances, fire hydrants, fire escapes and crosswalks. The Appellate Division has not yet rendered a decision.
