Cause Effective.
Norm Simon and
Jodi Rosensaft helped Cause Effective, a nonprofit technical assistance provider co-founded in 1981 by
Jeff Trachtman, to revise its outdated Employee Manual and related policies. Cause Effective has helped thousands of other nonprofits raise funds and build support through special events and other techniques.
Chaverim. Chaverim, Inc.’s mission is to raise money for and implement classrooms in pre-schools that target children with special needs.
Howard Rothman and
Blake Rigel represented the organization in connection with its nonprofit incorporation, application for tax-exempt status, and registration with the State of New York.
Hebrew Free Loan Society.
Ezra Levin,
Naomi Maryles, and
Sally Swift assisted the Hebrew Free Loan Society in establishing a program under which the Society has been advancing funds to schools on behalf of disabled students.
David Feldman and Ezra reviewed proposals for the Society to advance funds to other nonprofit agencies. Randy Lipsitz advised the Society in connection with the conversion of its current software into a more modern computer language. Ezra also counseled the Society on various of its governance provisions.
Significant Steps . Significant Steps is a nonprofit Brooklyn-based school and program that provides educational and therapeutic services to infants and young children with developmental disabilities. After substantial city cutbacks, Significant Steps came to Kramer Levin for corporate turn-around and restructuring advice.

Amy Caton are assisting Significant Steps in its negotiations with New York City and its creditors.
Turning the Page. Turning the Page is a nonprofit corporation that links D.C. public schools, families, and the community to ensure that students receive valuable educational resources and a high-quality public education. As outside general counsel for Turning the Page,
Matthew Haies reviews and drafts agreements and advises the organization on a variety of matters, including corporate governance and employment issues.
Steven Knecht assists on employment matters, and
Steven Sparling has provides counsel on litigation issues.
