Special Counsel
Albert B. Chen’s practice focuses primarily on patent law, including patent prosecution, interference, and litigation. Mr. Chen also counsels clients on a number of intellectual property issues, including patent, trade secret and false advertising matters. Mr. Chen’s client representations range from small or startup companies aiming to develop and implement a wide range of intellectual property strategies, to large global multi-national corporations seeking to maintain and enforce their intellectual property assets. Sample technologies in Mr. Chen’s practice include carbon nanotubes, foam composites, tissue engineering, diagnostic and therapeutic agents, pharmaceuticals, medical devices, household goods and appliances, and catalysis.
He is a registered patent attorney with extensive experience in all aspects of patent practice, ranging from the initial formulation of important patenting strategies, to patent prosecution before the U.S. Patent and Trademark Office and abroad, to representing clients before the Board of Patent Appeals and Interferences.
Mr. Chen is responsible for the training, setup, integration and implementation of modern technology and infrastructure into the firm’s trademark and patent prosecution practice, and has given numerous lectures on these subjects. His practice further includes the offensive enforcement or defensive use of patents and patent applications. He has formulated strategies for and has been involved in a number of patent interferences before the Board as well as ANDA, patent, antitrust and false advertising litigations in federal court.
