Settling Inside
Kramer Levin Naftalis & Frankel LLP hires qualified laterals to respond to the needs of existing practice groups or to create new practice groups where the firm plans expansion. Our lawyers are proud not only of our
commitment to excellence and our expertise in responding to crisis situations, but also of our
collegial, unpretentious environment.
- Associates are encouraged to become well-rounded lawyers in their field of interest and partners work to provide a wide variety of assignments for a well-rounded experience.
- Our shadowing program allows junior associates the opportunity to experience on-the-job training, partner mentoring and client exposure early in their careers. Assignment coordinators in each department work expose junior associates to substantive work earlier in their careers, helping them to be better trained and more confident. Examples include: participating in conference calls, attending client meetings, going to hearings and/or court, attending depositions, and participating in negotiating sessions. Junior associates receive billable credit for these shadowing opportunities (hours vary by class year).
- We stress quality in everything we do, and are widely recognized for this. Our extraordinarily broad client base includes Fortune 100 companies and dynamic mid-market and smaller firms, affording a wide variety of experiences and on-the-job learning opportunities for lawyers at all levels.
- The firm encourages all associates to build pro bono and community service work into their Kramer Levin careers. Associates are free to pursue and initiate projects of personal interest to them, including both pro bono legal work and community service activities such as high school mentoring programs. We treat pro bono work as regular firm work. It is credited for bonus purposes, supervised and evaluated like billable projects, and supported with firm resources. It is quite common for attorneys to build significant pro bono and public service components into successful Kramer Levin careers.
