2010
  • Land Use counsel Sandy Lindenbaum was honored with the Harry B. Helmsley Distinguished New Yorker Award at the Real Estate Board of New York's 114th Annual Banquet. Mr. Lindenbaum was among six honorees recognized for their achievements in and contributions to the New York realty industry.

  • Chambers Global 2010 selected Mark D. Koestler, Thomas Moers Mayer, Gary P. Naftalis, Christian Orengo, Ted Ruthizer and Naomi Schorr as "Leaders in their Field."

  • In the 2010 edition of Benchmark Litigation, Kramer Levin was named in the top tier of litigation firms in New York. Partners Barry H. Berke, Nicholas L. Coch, Michael J. Dell, Gregory A. Horowitz, Gary P. Naftalis and Harold P. Weinberger were also recognized as “Local Litigation Stars”.

  • Kramer Levin was named to the BTI Client Service A-Team 2010.

  • Kramer Levin received a perfect score in the 2010 Human Rights Campaign’s annual “Corporate Equality Index.” The HRC is the nation’s largest gay, lesbian, bisexual and transgender (GLBT) rights organization and uses the Corporate Equality Index as a tool to rate American businesses on how they treat GLBT employees, consumers and investors.  This is the third straight year Kramer Levin has been recognized with this distinction.

2009
  • Three Kramer Levin deals were named as the winner in four award categories at the 8th Annual M&A Advisor Awards Gala . The acquisition by Kramer Levin client Deloitte of substantially all of the assets of BearingPoint's North American Public Services practice out of bankruptcy transaction was the recipient of both the Middle Market Deal of the Year and Professional Services Industry Sector Deal of the Year awards. The acquisition of firm client Aladdin Knowledge Systems by Affiliates of Vector Capital transaction was the recipient of the Cross Border Deal of the Year award. The acquisition of Innovest Strategic Value Advisors, Inc. by client RiskMetrics Group, Inc. transaction received the Financial Services Deal of the Year award.

  • Fifty-five Kramer Levin attorneys were recognized in the 2009 edition of New York Super Lawyers, with six appearing in the "Top 100," reflecting lawyers who received the highest point totals in the New York Super Lawyers balloting. Kramer Levin tied for the most lawyers in the “Top 100.” The six Kramer Levin lawyers in the “Top 100” are Barry H. Berke, Gary P. Naftalis, Jay A. Neveloff, Ted Ruthizer, Paul D. Selver and Harold P. Weinberger. Mr. Naftalis was also listed in the top 10 and was the second top point getter for all attorneys in the New York metro area.

  • Kramer Levin was named the winner of the fourth annual U.S. Middle-Market Financing Award for Real Estate by M&A Advisor for the formation of Private National Mortgage Acceptance Company, LLC as a joint venture among BlackRock, Inc., Highfields Capital Management, LLC and Stanford L. Kurland.

  • Kramer Levin ranked #18 in the New York Law Journal's list of the Top 100 Largest New York Law Firms.

  • Kramer Levin ranked #23 in Crain’s New York list of New York Area’s Largest Law Firms, ranked by number of area lawyers.

  • In the 2009 edition of Benchmark: Litigation, Kramer Levin was listed as a highly recommended Leading Litigation firm in New York. Litigation partners Gary P. Naftalis, Harold P. Weinberger and Michael J. Dell were noted as some of the top litigators for white collar defense, Lanham Act litigation, and securities and class-action defense by peers and clients.

  • Kramer Levin ranked #22 in Crain's New York and the New York Law Journal's  lists of the Top 25 Largest New York Law Firms.

  • DealFlow Media ranked Kramer Levin #9 for initial public offering (IPO) total dollars advising underwriters in the October 23, 2008 issue of The SPAC Report.

  • Litigation partners Gary P. Naftalis and Eric A. Tirschwell were named to Lawdragon 500’s fourth annual Leading Lawyers in America Guide.

  • Legal Services NYC honored Kramer Levin as one of its "Pro Bono Visionaries" for 2008 for its decade-long commitment to staffing a full-time Housing Court externship at South Brooklyn Legal Services.

  • In the Commercial Real Estate section of the February 20, 2008 issue of the New York Post entitled “The City’s Top Movers and Shakers,” Jay Neveloff was featured as one of only four top real estate lawyers who help their clients complete billion dollar deals. Mr. Neveloff was chosen as a go-to lawyer for real estate and other commercial transactions in New York and throughout the U.S., including sales transactions like the $1.3 billion sale of Starrett City and the development of the Trump Soho Hotel and Condominium. For client Island Capital he worked on ventures with Dubai-based Istithmar related to properties including 230 Park Avenue, 280 Park Avenue, the W Hotel at Union Square and the Mandarin Oriental Hotel at Time Warner Center.

2007
  • Legal 500 US Volume I recognized Kramer Levin's corporate, bankruptcy and financial services practices and singled out Scott Rosenblum, Peter Smith and Abbe Dienstag for mergers and acquisitions; Kenneth Eckstein and Thomas Moers Mayer for advice to creditors and financial institutions; and Jay Baris, Carl Frischling, Peter Smith and Philip Weingold for investment funds.

  • In the 2007 PIPEs rankings released by PlacementTracker, Kramer Levin ranked fifth in the PIPE market investor counsel league table, having advised in 13 transactions totaling more than $81 million.

  • The European Legal 500 recognized eight practice areas in Kramer Levin's Paris office as leaders in the following areas: Banking & Finance, Capital Markets, Corporate & Commercial, Dispute Resolution: Commercial Litigation, Employment, Insurance, Mergers & Acquisitions and Real Estate.

  • Kramer Levin was one of only 15 firms that had top rankings in both "Growth" and "Blue Chip" companies in "The Investor's Guide to the Am Law 200.” In its June issue The American Lawyer rated top law firms as "growth" companies and "blue chip" companies. Three metrics were used to decipher those top firms that had shown attributes of productivity and value of work to clients, or "growth" over the past five years, and similar metrics to assess consistency of high performance and staying power. Kramer Levin performed well on both charts and outmatched its peers on both measures.  

  • Kramer Levin was ranked 23rd in the Crain's New York list of the largest law firms in New York.

  • In the first edition of Benchmark: Litigation, Kramer Levin was listed as a recommended Leading Litigation firm in New York. Litigation partners Gary Naftalis, Harold Weinberger and Michael Dell were noted as some of the top litigators for white collar defense, Lanham Act litigation, and securities and class-action defense by peers and clients.

The firm's Immigration, Corporate/M&A, Media & Entertainment: Advertising (Litigation), Bankruptcy/Restructuring, Litigation: General Commercial, and Real Estate practices all received high rankings. Samuel Lindenbaum, Gary Naftalis (Litigation: White-Collar Crime & Government Investigations), Ted Ruthizer, Paul Selver and Harold Weinberger were in the top tier.   • Gary Naftalis and Thomas Moers Mayer were named to Lawdragon 500's third annual Leading Lawyers in America Guide. Jay Neveloff was named to Lawdragon's Leading Dealmaker's in America list, receiving a five dragon rating, the highest rating available, and was a finalist in the Leading Lawyers guide.

  • In the 2007 American Lawyer Mid-Level Associate satisfaction survey, Kramer Levin was ranked in the top 10 of New York City based law firms.

  • The 2008 Vault Rankings once again listed Kramer Levin in the the top 100 most prestigious law firms in the country. Nationwide, the firm offices were ranked #18 and the pro bono program was ranked #7.

  • Working Mother Magazine and Flex-Time Lawyers LLC, a national consulting firm advising attorneys and legal employers on work-life balance, chose Kramer Levin as one of the Best Law Firms for Women. Only 50 law firms throughout the country made the list and only seven firms are based in New York City.

  • Legal 500 U.S. Volume III recognized Kramer Levin’s tax practice and leading trial lawyer Gary Naftalis. Howard Rothman and Maria Jones were singled out for their expertise in handling tax controversies for clients. Gary Naftalis was chosen as one the nation’s leading trial lawyers, one of only 10 lawyers selected. His successful defense of Michael Eisner in the Disney shareholder derivative litigation, and current representation of Phillip Bennett and Kenneth Langone in their securities litigations, were cited.

  • Kramer Levin’s Corporate Restructuring and Bankruptcy Department was honored with two awards at the M&A Turnaround Awards Dinner, receiving the “Law Firm of the Year” award, and “Chapter 11 Reorganization of the Year” award for WCI Steel.

  • The American Lawyer ranked Kramer Levin again in the AmLaw 100 Survey for Gross Revenues, up 12.9% from the previous year’s, and No. 25 for Profits per Partner.

  • Kramer Levin was named one of the top nine law firms in lateral partner integration satisfaction in a Major, Lindsey and Africa survey. Surveys were sent to 5,622 law firm partners in 647 firms who changed firms in the past several years; more than 1,000 responses were received, revealing the factors that make such moves successful, or not. The laterals who participated in the survey indicated that money was not the driving force behind their decision to change firms, but platform and support for their careers, practices and clients. The survey measured eight critical factors weighed by laterals in choosing their new firms; contrasted experiences in different practice areas, geographic locales and by gender; and revealed which firms were rated highest in both lateral partner satisfaction and integration.

  • Chambers Global 2007 selected four Kramer Levin practice areas and six firm attorneys as some of the best in the legal field. The firm's Litigation: Trial Lawyers, Corporate Restructuring and Bankruptcy, Business Immigration and Alternative Dispute Resolution practices all received high rankings.   • Carl Frischling received the Institutional Investor’s first ever Independent Fund Counsel of the Year award.
