Kramer Levin Naftalis & Frankel LLP announced today that Gilles Saint-Marc has joined the firm as a partner and co-leader of the Investment Management group in Paris.

Mr. Saint-Marc focuses on advising businesses on structuring and negotiating financings as well as securitization, debt funds, EuroPP financings and Fintech. His addition strengthens Kramer Levin’s position as one of the leaders in the French new finance market, which offers alternatives to traditional bank financing.

In Paris, the firm’s Investment Management practice is part of its Banking and Finance department. The combined 17-lawyer team leverages the experience and innovation of Kramer Levin’s offices in New York and Silicon Valley to provide a global and integrated vision on regulatory matters as well as on transactional structuring and operations, focusing in particular on advising businesses (notably SMEs), structuring bonds, EuroPP, USPP or Schuldschein issues, and debt and securitization funds under French and Luxembourg law (FPE, ELTIF, FIS and Luxembourg-FIAR), as well as on Fintech as a whole (crowdfunding, blockchain and DSP2).

Mr. Saint-Marc was a partner in Gide’s Banking and Finance department from 2000 to 2016 and worked in the firm’s New York office from 1997 until 1999. Prior to joining the firm in 1992, he was a fixed income trader in a major European bank.

Mr. Saint-Marc is recognized by Chambers Europe, Chambers Global and Legal 500 as a French "leading lawyer" in Banking and Finance. He graduated from the Paris Institute for Political Sciences (SciencesPo) and holds a master’s degree and a postgraduate degree (DESS) in business and tax law from the University of Paris II-Assas. He is a member of Paris Europlace’s Steering Committee and its Securitization Commission and is chairman of the Fintech Commission. He is also a member of the securitization group of the French Asset Management Association (AFG) and a founding member of the French Observatory for FPEs (Observatoire des Fonds de Prêts à l'Economie – OFPE). Mr. Marc also participates in the Fintech Forum created July 2015 by the French regulators AMF and ACPR.
