Jeffrey S. Trachtman debuted as a blogger on the Huffington Post, authoring a post addressing concerns within the LGBT rights movement over the focus in recent years on marriage equality litigation. Trachtman argued that eliminating overt legal discrimination against same-sex couples was a necessary step in changing attitudes and protecting the rights of LGBT people in other settings, and disputed the assumption that marriage litigation had drained resources from other issues. He noted, to the contrary, that the influx of contributions inspired by marriage equality in fact allowed mainstream LGBT rights organizations to grow and do more  work on issues like HIV, transgender, and homeless youth advocacy.
