Kramer Levin obtained asylum and blocked the removal of a client from Guinea who had been persecuted for operating a gay nightclub and feared further persecution if he returned. The Kramer Levin team presented a compelling case that homosexuals in Guinea are subject to extrajudicial violence and arrest by the Guinean police. The government decided not to oppose the request for asylum after reviewing Kramer Levin’s extensive pre-hearing filings and discussing the case with the team, and the Immigration Judge granted the request for asylum. The Kramer Levin included Litigation associate Shaked Sivan and Corporate law clerk Agnes Trenche. Intellectual Property special counsel Aaron Frankel supervised the case.
