Kramer Levin Naftalis & Frankel LLP is pleased to announce that Gary Naftalis, firm co-chairman and co-chair of the litigation department, was honored by The Fund for Modern Courts last night for his contributions to improving the administration of justice in New York. Mr. Naftalis was presented the John J. McCloy Memorial Award by Jonathan Lippman, chief judge of the New York Court of Appeals, during a ceremony at the Bryant Park Grill.

The Fund for Modern Courts is a private statewide court reform organization dedicated to improving the judicial system in New York State. Within the past year, the organization has been a significant player in pushing through legislation to help address the massive backlog clogging New York’s Family Courts.

The John J. McCloy Memorial Award is named in honor of John J. McCloy, who served as Chair of the Fund and Committee for Modern Courts from 1961-1978. Mr. McCloy’s distinguished record includes service as United States Military Governor and as High Commissioner in postwar Germany, as president of the World Bank, and as chair of the Council on Foreign Relations. Each year, the McCloy Award recognizes lawyers who have made outstanding contributions to improving the administration of justice in New York State.

“This is a great honor for Gary, and we are extremely proud of Gary’s many accomplishments and his deep commitment to maintaining a strong judicial system in New York and throughout the country,” said Paul Pearlman, managing partner of Kramer Levin.
