Gary P. Naftalis, litigation department head and firm co-chair at Kramer Levin Naftalis & Frankel LLP, was honored yesterday by the American Friends of the Hebrew University (AFHU) of Jerusalem at the 39th annual Katz Torch of Learning Award Luncheon at Cipriani in New York City with 365 people in attendance. Presented annually to a distinguished member of the legal community, the Torch of Learning Award recognizes the leadership, scholarship and dedication to the betterment of humanity, which was embodied by the ideals of the late George Katz, co-founder of Wachtell, Lipton, Rosen & Katz. The guest speaker at the event was The Right Honourable Lord Woolf, Former Lord Chief Justice of England and Wales.

“We are extremely proud of Gary’s accomplishments,” said Paul S. Pearlman, Kramer Levin’s managing partner. “His leadership and commitment make him an invaluable asset to the New York community and beyond.”

For more than 30 years, Mr. Naftalis has remained one of the nation’s leading trial lawyers, representing individuals and corporations in all phases of complex civil, criminal, and regulatory matters including those involving allegations of insider trading, market manipulation, accounting irregularities and other financial fraud. Mr. Naftalis is consistently ranked as a preeminent litigator in Chambers USA, Best Lawyers, Super Lawyers and Lawdragon, among other prestigious rankings.
