Kramer Levin Successfully Petitions for Removal of Young Mother from NYS Central Register of Child Abuse and Neglect

Litigation special counsel Karen Kennedy and law clerk Gabriel Slamovits, working with Brooklyn Defender Services, successfully petitioned the New York State Central Register of Child Abuse and Neglect to remove the name of a client who was wrongfully listed there. They submitted a client affidavit and exhibits showing that the client should not be on the registry and was wrongfully listed in connection with a petition that was dismissed in Family Court. This result was particularly important to the client, a working mother, because she is pursuing a career in a New York City public school, which she would be barred from if her name had remained on the register.
