Internet and E-Commerce

Attorneys in Kramer Levin Naftalis & Frankel LLP's Intellectual Property Department have a wide range of experience with issues involving the Internet and e-commerce transactions.  We are experienced in litigation and negotiations that arise as a result of IP use on or in connection with the Internet. We are actively involved in software and technology acquisition, licensing, distribution, security agreements and other arrangements, often with members of the firm's Corporate Department. We represent a broad variety of clients having issues in this area, including computer software vendors, developers and users, game manufacturers, website developers and content providers, electronic media publishers, e-commerce, and online financial services and consulting companies. These clients have ranged in size from a Big Four accounting firm to an Australian online magazine devoted to entertainment and other issues.

While doing business on the Internet in today's business climate is becoming settled, members of the Department can help manage any risk by giving advice based on their experience with Internet issues such as jurisdiction, copyright infringement, trademark infringement, domain name issues, defamation, online indecency, e-mail risks and policies, encryption, identity theft, data protection and general intellectual property issues.
