Mr. Bessonette practices primarily in the areas of general corporate and securities law, including distressed debt exchange offers and other out of court restructuring transactions, mergers and acquisitions, private equity, venture capital and joint venture transactions, as well as general 1934 Act reporting and corporate governance matters.

Mr. Bessonette regularly represents hedge funds and other financial institutions in connection with various restructuring matters, as well as privately held and publicly traded emerging growth and established companies, both domestic and foreign, in a wide variety of industries, including structured settlements, technology, real estate, industrial, financial services and fashion. He also represents issuers and investment funds in various offerings and investments. Mr. Bessonette has substantial experience in general business matters such as the analysis of complex credit documents, indentures and preferred equity securities, the negotiation of partnership and joint venture arrangements, consulting and employment contracts, manufacturing and service agreements, licensing and executive compensation matters.

Recent representative matters include the representation of investors in various parts of the capital structure in connection with transactions or restructurings involving AbitibiBowater (now Resolute Forest Products), Ainsworth, Avaya, Catalyst Paper, Energy Future Holdings, Energy XXI, Gold Reserve, Orchard Brands, SP Newsprint and White Birch Paper Company, among many others.
