Mr. Baghdassarian is a member of Kramer Levin’s Intellectual Property Group. His practice involves primarily litigation matters, focusing on patent and trademark actions, as well as general commercial disputes in various courts and tribunals. His litigation experience includes complex patent and trademark infringement actions involving satellite radio devices and service, Hatch-Waxman Act based disputes, digital imaging technology, and devices used in the semiconductor industry. Mr. Baghdassarian’s experience also includes negotiating and drafting technology license agreements.

  • Representing Prism Technologies in two week patent trial involving computer software.
  • Representing Volkswagen Group of America in patent infringement action involving vehicle navigation systems.
  • Representing Toyoda Gosei in patent infringement action involving fabrication of light emitting diodes (LEDs).
  • Representing Camtek Ltd., an Israeli manufacturer of semiconductor wafer inspection systems, in a patent infringement action.
  • Representing Sirius XM Radio Inc. in a patent infringement action involving encryption technology.
  • Representing Sirius XM Radio Inc. in patent infringement action involving audio content that can be downloaded and played according to a playlist.
  • Representing Sirius XM Radio Inc. in a declaratory judgment action involving patents relating to microprocessor design and flash memory chips.
  • Representing Sinosteel Corporation, Sinosteel Trading Co. and Liaoning Jiayi Metals & Minerals Co., Ltd. in class action antitrust lawsuit alleging price fixing for magnesite. Successfully dismissed two complaints asserted by plaintiffs.
  • Representing Savient Pharmaceuticals against a breach of contract claim regarding ownership of patents and multi-million dollar damages.
  • Representing Sirius XM Radio Inc. against a patent infringement action relating to radio devices brought in the U.S. District Court for the Eastern District of Texas, resulting in “walk-away” stipulation of dismissal by plaintiff-patentee after a decisive claim construction ruling. 
  • Representing XM Satellite Radio Inc. in multi-district patent litigation involving computer telephony technology.
  • Successfully defended pharmaceutical manufacturer Endo Pharmaceuticals in a complex ANDA patent infringement action brought in the U.S. District Court for the Southern District of New York, resulting in a win at trial and favorable post-trial settlement. 
  • Successfully defended StarTech Corp., a major innovator of plasma arc technology used for waste management, against a patent infringement action brought in the U.S. District Court for the Southern District of New York, resulting in “walk-away” dismissal by plaintiff-patentee shortly after the case was filed. 
  • Successfully defended Advanced Technology Materials, Inc., a major supplier of gas storage and distribution systems used in semiconductor fabrication, against a patent infringement action brought in the U.S. District Court for the District of Delaware, in which the asserted patents were rendered unenforceable at trial and affirmed on appeal. 
  • Successfully defended Sirius Satellite Radio Inc. against breach of contract claims in AAA arbitration in which claimant demanded over $100 million in damages and Panel found no liability after twenty-day hearing. 
  • Successfully defended Italian distributor La Magona D’Italia against breach of contract claims brought in the U.S. District Court for the Southern District of Florida, resulting in summary judgment dismissal of action in favor of arbitration in Italy and award of attorneys fees.

Prior to his arrival at Kramer Levin, Mr. Baghdassarian served as a law clerk to the Honorable Roger J. Miner, United States Court of Appeals for the Second Circuit.
