Michael J. Sternhell
Associate

Mr. Sternhell's practice focuses primarily on white collar defense. He has extensive experience defending individuals and business entities in complex state and federal criminal, civil and regulatory enforcement proceedings involving securities, accounting, tax and other financial frauds. Mr. Sternhell also regularly conducts internal investigations of public companies and defends individuals in connection with Securities and Exchange Commission, FINRA and grand jury investigations.

As part of his pro bono practice, Mr. Sternhell currently represents several ethnic Uighurs, a persecuted Muslim minority group from western China, who have been wrongfully imprisoned in Guantánamo Bay since 2002. He also serves as co-coordinator of Kramer Levin's pro bono asylum program and is an alumnus of the firm’s Attorney Service Program with South Brooklyn Legal Services, where he litigated over 50 housing court cases on behalf of low-income tenants facing eviction.
