Corporate partner Howard T. Spilko was quoted in an article appearing The Deal Magazine about plans to regulate derivatives markets. Currently there is legislation before Congress to move all derivatives onto exchanges. Spilko was quoted as saying that doing so would likely put pricing pressures on dealers. He said that imposed standardized capital and margin requirements through clearinghouses would tie up capital and hurt dealers. Ultimately, he said, regulatory changes in the derivatives market are inevitable.
