Kramer Levin Goes Above and "Beyond" for Wear Me, Beyonce

March 29, 2010

Kramer Levin obtained prompt dismissal of claims brought by Vier International Limited against client Beyond Productions, LLP, a joint venture between Wear Me Apparel Corp. and Beyonce Knowles, which licenses the House of Dereon line of apparel. In a lawsuit filed in early February in the United States District Court for the Southern District of New York, Vier International Limited asserted claims for breach of contract, fraud and civil RICO violations against Beyond Productions and other defendants in connection with Vier International's alleged manufacture of goods bearing House of Dereon trademarks. Even before engaging in motion practice or discovery, Kramer Levin was able to demonstrate to the plaintiff that it had no viable claims against Beyond Productions. During a preliminary conference with the Court, Vier International agreed to voluntarily dismiss its claims against Beyond Productions. Dismissal was So Ordered by United States District Judge Victor Marrero on March 24, 2010. Howard J. Rothman and Jeremy A. Cohen represented Beyond Productions.
