Mr. Schmidt has represented numerous official creditor committees, bondholders, financial institutions and debtors in all aspects of bankruptcy and restructuring since 1989.
Recent representations for which he has had primary or significant responsibility include Leap Wireless International (creditors’ committee); Elite Model Management (debtor); Omni Facilities (creditors’ committee); Micro Warehouse, Inc. (debtor); Adelphia Business Solutions (creditors’ committee); Nationwide Furniture (bank group); Big City Radio (bondholder group); MEDIQ Incorporated (bank group); Vlasic Foods International (creditors’ committee); DeGeorge Financial Corporation (creditors’ committee); Ponderosa Fibres of Pennsylvania (bondholder group); Edison Brothers, Inc. (creditors’ committee); The Wiz, Inc. (debtor representation); and SLM International (creditors’ committee). Mr. Schmidt also played a significant role on behalf of official committees in the chapter 11 cases of Dow Corning Corporation, Financial News Network, Arco Distributing, Brentano’s Stores, Packaging Industries and Eastern Airlines. Mr. Schmidt also represents landlords, indenture trustees, individual secured and unsecured creditors and acquirors of assets from distressed or bankrupt entities.
