Limits on Creditors’ Remedies Against Solvent Debtors Echoed in the Quadrant Litigation
Samantha M. Ford represents individuals and corporations in state and federal courts and before civil regulators.
Among her most notable cases is the defense of a former Deutsche Bank Alex Brown investment representative who was charged with conspiring to deprive the IRS of billions of tax dollars through the use of allegedly abusive tax shelters, in which Ms. Ford helped win an acquittal on all charges in a jury trial in the Southern District of New York. Ms. Ford also represented JP Morgan Chase & Co. in a lawsuit establishing that the company is not required to allow public demonstrations at One Chase Manhattan Plaza.
Ms. Ford also dedicates significant time to pro bono matters. She is involved in Kramer Levin’s partnership with Volunteers of Legal Services’ School-Based Children’s Project and coordinates the firm’s legal clinic at P.S. 11 in the Chelsea neighborhood of New York City. In 2011, she served as an extern in the South Brooklyn Legal Services Housing Court Unit, where she represented low-income New Yorkers in housing court and administrative proceedings before the Human Resources Administration. Ms. Ford participated in the New York City Law Department’s Deposition Program from 2011 to 2013. She also has successfully represented several individuals in their applications for political asylum.
