• Ashish Virmani works on bankruptcy and restructuring matters, advising and assisting in the representation of creditors’ committees, ad hoc creditor groups, major secured and unsecured creditors, debtors, and other significant parties in interest in complex bankruptcy cases, out-of-court restructurings and other distressed situations.

Ashish’s recent representations include the Official Committee of Unsecured Creditors in Endo International, a case in which he was integrally involved in the investigation of estate claims against lenders, directors and officers, and others, and in representing the committee in litigation filed to enforce the estate claims. He has also been involved in advising the ad hoc committee of consenting governmental claimants in the Purdue Pharma bankruptcy cases.

Ashish spent a decade working as an attorney in India, including as an independent attorney arguing cases before the Supreme Court of India and other high courts on issues relating to bankruptcy, banking, commercial and arbitration laws, and as an associate attorney working with prominent attorneys in New Delhi, including the former additional solicitor general of India and a current justice of the Delhi High Court. His international experience adds immense value in complex cross-border litigations and transactions.

As a practitioner in international arbitration with significant experience, Ashish also filed an amicus brief with the U.S. Supreme Court in ZF Automotive v. Luxshare regarding the power of a U.S. court to order discovery in international arbitration, which Justice Stephen Breyer referred to during oral argument as “probably the most important [amicus brief].”
