• Ashland assists in the representation of significant parties in interest, including companies, indenture trustees, bondholders, mutual funds, distressed investors, and secured and unsecured creditors in complex Chapter 11 bankruptcy cases, out-of-court restructurings, and other distressed situations.
     
    Prior to joining the firm, Ashland served as law clerk for the Hon. Nancy Hershey Lord of the U.S. Bankruptcy Court for the Eastern District of New York. While in law school, Ashland interned for Chief Judge Carla E. Craig, formerly of the U.S. Bankruptcy Court for the Eastern District of New York, and with the Special Litigation and Appeals Division of the Westchester County District Attorney’s Office.

    Experience

    • In re Diamond Sports Group, LLC, et al. – Assist in the representation of an ad hoc group of first lien lenders in connection with the Chapter 11 proceedings commenced by Diamond Sports Group and certain of its affiliates, which owned and operated a portfolio of regional sports networks with exclusive broadcasting rights to 42 MLB, NBA and NHL professional sports teams. In January 2025, the company completed its financial restructuring, emerging from Chapter 11 as Main Street Sports Group (dba FanDuel Sports Network).   

    • In re Enviva Inc., et al. – Assist in the representation of the Indenture Trustee (including as a member of the Official Committee of Unsecured Creditors) for $350 million of tax-exempt industrial revenue bonds issued as part of a public-private partnership in the Chapter 11 cases of Enviva Inc., the world’s largest producer of sustainable wood pellets.

    • Build America Bonds – Assist in the representation of an ad hoc group of holders of Build America Bonds in connection with a potential redemption by the issuer, the Regents for the University of California.

    • Representation of a privately owned large retail operator of international franchised quick service and casual dining restaurants in its out-of-court restructuring.

    • Representation of a privately owned global consumer products manufacturing company in its financing and related matters.
