• Yuridia Caire is a trial lawyer who litigates intellectual property cases involving complex technology, with a particular emphasis on computer science, chemistry and the life sciences. Yuridia litigates patent infringement actions in federal district courts across the country, both representing patent owners seeking to enforce their rights and defending companies against allegations of infringement. Her recent litigation work includes patent infringement actions in the Eastern District of Texas, the Central and Northern Districts of California, and the District of Delaware. She also handles proceedings before the U.S. Patent and Trademark Office.

    Yuridia’s work involves all aspects of litigation, including drafting and arguing motions, managing discovery, taking and defending depositions, and preparing witnesses for trial. She also provides infringement analyses, advises clients on intellectual property licensing and transactional matters, and assists clients in entity formation, partnering agreements, employment and inventor agreements, negotiation and structuring of license agreements, due diligence, and general corporate matters. In the past year, Yuridia managed a trademark litigation for a Fortune 500 company in the District of Delaware that settled just hours before opening statements. She also handled various aspects of a multipatent litigation in the Northern District of California involving anti-virus software and computer products that resulted in a $40 million jury verdict for the client. She also recently secured a preliminary injunction and temporary restraining order for a defendant in a copyright litigation in the Northern District of California.

    In addition to her work on behalf of clients, Yuridia dedicates significant time to pro bono matters, volunteering with the Legal Aid Society of San Mateo County, serving on its Golf Committee and providing legal assistance at its Housing Clinic. Yuridia has represented pro bono clients in immigration, conservatorship, guardianship, liens, contract and refugee resettlement matters.

    Yuridia was selected for and completed the Latino Board Leadership Academy through the Hispanic Foundation of Silicon Valley in 2015.

    Experience

    • Represented Finjan in a multipatent infringement suit against Sophos in the Northern District of California that resulted in a favorable jury verdict of infringement and validity and an award of $15 million in damages .

    • Obtained a $40 million jury verdict of infringement for Finjan against Blue Coat Systems in patent infringement litigation involving the company’s proprietary real-time, behavior-based threat detection and prevention technology.

    • Represented, as part of the team, Depomed in a Patent Office trial against Purdue Pharma LP, which claimed that two Depomed patents were invalid, securing three Patent Trial and Appeal Board decisions affirming the validity of the patents.

    • Successfully defended MRC Global Inc., in a trademark and unfair competition action in the District of Delaware.

    • Represented, as lead counsel, a defendant in a copyright infringement case, successfully defending against Digital Millennium Copyright Act take-down actions and securing a temporary restraining order and preliminary injunction against the plaintiff.

    • Represented Finjan in a multipatent infringement action against multiple defendants in a trial in the District of Delaware involving network security software.

    • Represented Finjan in a patent infringement action involving network packet technology in the Central District of California.

    • Represented Cooper Notifications in a patent infringement action involving notification technology in the District of Delaware.

    • Secured a successful settlement for BGRMODS LLC and Caliber 11 in a copyright and trade secret misappropriation infringement action involving gaming technology and counter-claims of trademark infringement in the Eastern District of California.

    • Represents a group of siblings in a significant multifaceted trust and business litigation against their trustees and handled other matters on their behalf in connection with an investigation of trust administration.

    • Represented Leader Technologies in a patent infringement action in the District of Delaware against Facebook involving online collaboration tools.

    • Represented Trilliant Networks Inc. in a multi-patent infringement action involving wireless communication systems in the Eastern District of Texas.

    • Represented Trilliant Networks Inc. in a multi-patent infringement action involving wireless data collection systems in the Eastern District of Texas.

    • Represented the plaintiff in a patent infringement action involving online collaboration tools in the District of Delaware.

    • Represented the defendant in a multi-patent infringement action involving wireless network devices in the Eastern District of Texas.

    • Represented Trilliant Networks Inc. in a multi-patent infringement suit in the Western District of Kentucky relating to mesh networks and secured an early stay of all damages discovery and a bifurcation of damages and willfulness issues from the liability trial.

    • Represented a defendant against trademark infringement claims involving power generation equipment and counterclaims for fraud and genericness in the Eastern District of New York.
