Kramer Levin Naftalis & Frankel LLP announced today that Dani R. James has been selected as co-chair of the law firm’s industry-leading White Collar Defense and Investigations practice. James has distinguished herself as a leader in the white collar defense bar and joins Paul H. Schoeman as co-chair of the group.

Barry Berke, co-chair of Kramer Levin’s Litigation department, said, “Dani’s extraordinary talents and creative strategies both inside and outside the courtroom have  led to many positive outcomes for our clients who find themselves in the crosshairs of controversy. Her appointment is a recognition of her leadership and the value she brings to our clients and our firm.”

James focuses her practice on a broad range of white collar criminal and regulatory matters. She represents executives, directors and officers, and other individuals, as well as companies, in sensitive, complicated and often high-profile criminal and regulatory cases involving accusations of insider trading, market manipulation, public corruption, bid-rigging, tax fraud and violations of the Foreign Corrupt Practices Act.

Her co-chair, Schoeman, said: “Dani is an outstanding lawyer and a terrific colleague. She has deep experience with the full range of issues our clients face and a tremendous track record of success.  I am thrilled that Dani will join me in leading our White Collar Defense and Investigations practice.”

“I am honored to be called on to help lead our White Collar Defense and Investigations group, which is one of the most elite such practices in the United States.  I am very much looking forward to working alongside Paul to continue to burnish our reputation and provide the best possible representation to our clients,” James said.

Prior to joining Kramer Levin in 2007, James was a federal prosecutor in the Southern District of New York and a visiting professor at the Benjamin N. Cardozo School of Law. An active member of the community, she serves on the board of directors of the FDNY Foundation as well as on the advisory board of Legal Outreach.

James graduated summa cum laude with a B.A. from Columbia University and holds a J.D. from Yale Law School.
