Business Immigration partner Matthew S. Dunn penned an op-ed piece that appears on Forbes.com. Mr. Dunn argues for reforms to the current H-1B visa program, saying that the current number of available visas, which caps out at 65,000, does not meet the needs of U.S. companies, particularly those that hire critical professionals such as doctors, scientists and engineers. He lays out the benefits of H-1B workers to the U.S. economy – including how H-1B professionals are job creators, and that nearly 20% of the Fortune 500 companies were founded by immigrants. Mr. Dunn also outlines steps the government can take to reform the program, including immediate solutions, like recapturing unused H-1B visas from previous years, excluding U.S. educated workers with advanced degrees and raising the cap, and a long-term solution of no quota on H-1B visas.
