Executive Order to Temporarily Suspend Immigration Into the United States

Late last night, President Donald Trump issued a tweet stating that he would be signing an Executive Order to temporarily suspend immigration into the United States. Details of the proposed suspension — including what categories of immigration would be covered, the effective date of the suspension, how long it would last and what exceptions would be made — were not provided and remain unavailable (although preliminary reports indicate the Executive Order is not expected to make significant changes to existing policy). There is also the possibility that any action taken by the president will be challenged in federal court.
