FDA Issues Warning Letter to Project 1600 Over Misleading COVID-19 Treatment Claims

The FDA issued a warning letter to Project 1600, Inc. for making misleading claims on its website that its cannabidiol (CBD) products can mitigate, prevent, treat or cure COVID-19. Although the website notes that there is currently no cure for COVID-19, it highlights that “[m]any doctors say the best thing you can do is boost your immune system,” which it claims its CBD products are designed to do. The warning letter requires that Project 1600 immediately cease making the aforementioned claims and notify the FDA within 48 hours with specific actions taken to address the agency’s concerns. The letter also notes that failure to comply could result in future enforcement action.
