Kramer Levin is Lead Sponsor - Archtober 2011 - Month-Long Celebration of NY’s Urban Architecture and Design

Kramer Levin is pleased to announce that the firm will serve as lead sponsor of Archtober 2011, a month-long festival of activities, programs and exhibitions presented by The Center for Architecture, AIA New York Chapter and The Center for Architecture Foundation throughout October. 2011 is the fourth consecutive year that Kramer Levin has served as the lead sponsor for this event, formerly called Architecture Week, which celebrates architecture and design excellence in New York. The expanded festival will feature tours, lectures and exhibitions that more broadly examine the relevance of architecture and design in urban life. 

Kramer Levin relishes serving as lead sponsor for this annual event having long been active in obtaining land use approvals for some of the most significant architecture in the city. For example, the firm’s Land Use group recently handled approvals for Riverside Center, a three million square foot mixed-use project designed by Christian de Portzamparc; the development next door to the Museum of Modern Art of a 1,050-foot-tall building designed by architect Jean Nouvel that will be the third tallest building in Manhattan; as well as approvals for a four-story addition to 980 Madison Avenue, the former Parke-Bernet Galleries, designed by architect Lord Norman Foster. 

The Center for Architecture will host unique programs nearly every day in the month of October. As in years past, an exhibition of AIA members work will be on display in the West 4th Street subway station. The festival culminates in the Heritage Ball fundraiser at Chelsea Piers.
