In June 2018, Kramer Levin successfully obtained a final support order in a contested child support proceeding for Her Justice client, Ms. B. After a three-day trial in Manhattan Family Court, the court ordered the respondent, Mr. C., to pay $130 in weekly payments and $7,335.71 in retroactive payments owed since May 2017, when Ms. B. filed her petition seeking to obtain child support for their infant son. The final support order awarded increased child support to Ms. B. beyond what she was previously awarded under the temporary support order in place. The court based the increased award in large part on evidence submitted by Kramer Levin regarding the income of an experienced barber in the NY metropolitan area, since the respondent owned and operated a barbershop but failed to present credible proof of income. The Kramer Levin team included Litigation associates Erin V. Klewin, Jessica K. Weigel and Ross Peyser. Litigation partner Alan R. Friedman oversaw this matter.
