On July 29, 2021, Kramer Levin client American Foundation for the Firearm Injury Reduction in Medicine (AFFIRM), a non-profit company, announced that it had agreed to be acquired by The Aspen Institute (the Institute). AFFIRM at The Aspen Institute — the resulting enterprise — will be run under the auspices of the Institute’s Health, Medicine & Society (HMS) Program. AFFIRM, founded in 2017 by two emergency physicians, is the country’s leading organization dedicated to ending the nation’s firearm injury epidemic using a public health approach. AFFIRM at The Aspen Institute will work to develop and implement effective strategies to prevent firearm injury, with a goal of helping to end the epidemic of gun violence and reduce firearm injuries and deaths.
