The firm continues to foster its strong relationship with Legal Outreach, Inc. (http://www.legaloutreach.org), a non-profit educational organization preparing public high school students from underserved communities in New York City for college and professional careers by helping them develop skills such as public speaking, persuasive writing and critical thinking through an intensive after-school, weekend and summer program. Every summer, the firm welcomes eight students from Legal Outreach for a one-week internship. During the week, the interns are exposed to a number of interactive presentations from the firm's various practice groups and provided with one large project culminating in an impressive and entertaining oral argument at week's end. More than 50 Kramer Levin attorneys, summer associates, and support staff devote time to this program each year and embrace the rewarding opportunity to work with these outstanding young people. Many firm attorneys also participate in Legal Outreach's year-round mentoring program, helping students prepare for constitutional debates and joining them on cultural outings. The firm and its individual attorneys are also committed financially to Legal Outreach, having played a key role in helping the organization complete the construction of its new headquarters in Long Island City, Queens, and funding more than $10,000 in scholarship prizes given annually to outstanding Legal Outreach graduates. The firm looks forward to continuing its great work with Legal Outreach for years to come.
