• Drawing from his nearly 20 years of experience, Elan Daniels advises on corporate restructuring and bankruptcy matters, including representing creditor committees, major secured and unsecured creditors, bondholders, and other stakeholders in both in- and out-of-court restructurings of distressed businesses and in municipal insolvencies. Elan also counsels debtors on the legal issues arising in reorganizations and advises investors seeking to acquire the assets or businesses of financially troubled companies. Known for his creativity, Elan routinely advises clients on the opportunities and risks attendant to their positions in distressed situations.

    Previously a member of Kramer Levin’s Bankruptcy and Restructuring practice, Elan rejoined the firm in 2020 after having served in hybrid legal/investment roles with two New York-based hedge funds for more than seven years. In those roles, he leveraged his legal background to develop investment theses in some of the largest, most complex restructurings and certain other legally driven special situations of the past decade.

    • Endo International plc – Representation of the Official Committee of Unsecured Creditors in the bankruptcy cases of Endo International plc, one of the country’s largest pharmaceutical companies, which involves numerous cutting edge litigations and lien challenges as well as issues attendant to mass tort cases.

    • The Hertz Corporation — Representation of the Official Committee of Unsecured Creditors.

    • Gulfport Energy Corporation — Representation of the Official Committee of Unsecured Creditors of Gulfport Energy Corporation, in connection with the successful Chapter 11 restructuring. 

    • Brazos Electric Power Cooperative Inc.— Representation of the Official Committee of Unsecured Creditors.

    • LATAM Airlines — Representation of a large group of funds holding over $5.5 billion in face amount of unsecured claims against LATAM Airlines, a Chilean company and the largest airline in Latin America, which filed for bankruptcy in May 2020.
