The group hosted its annual Lunar New Year lunch on Feb. 15, which this year featured a viewing of an excerpt from “The Chinese Exclusion Act” by award-winning documentary filmmakers Ric Burns and Li-Shin Yu of Steeplechase Films. This film sheds light on the important connections between the Chinese Exclusion Act and the history of American civil liberties, immigration and culture.

The Working Parents Affinity Group hosted Alyson Schafer, an internationally acclaimed parenting expert, therapist and best-selling author of three parenting books — Breaking the Good Mom Myth; Honey, I Wrecked the Kids; and her latest, Ain’t Misbehavin’ — for a webinar titled “Work Life Balance.” During her May 9 presentation, Schafer shared insights from her years of research as well as clinical and field experience, including how to put an end to the need for perfection and refocus on the need for balance, self-care and value-based decision making.
