• Justin R. Quinn represents commercial real estate lenders, investors and other providers of capital at all levels of the capital stack, from origination through maturity, including restructurings and workouts. Justin has represented both originators and purchasers in various types of secondary market transactions, including the negotiation of participation agreements, co-lending agreements and intercreditor agreements, as well as the origination and restructuring of repurchase and warehouse lending facilities, programmatic investment vehicles and “co-GP” operating agreements. He also has broad experience representing owners and developers in commercial real estate transactions, including the acquisition, financing and disposition of office, retail, multifamily and hospitality properties.

    Justin’s work includes complex financings on a national scale, with respect to both secured lending and joint venture contributions of common and preferred equity. His workout and restructuring experience includes negotiation of forbearance agreements, deed-in-lieu transactions and settlement agreements, mortgage and UCC foreclosures, and asset sales via bankruptcy.

    Some of his recent notable work includes representing lenders in the origination of acquisition, predevelopment, construction and permanent financings secured by fee, leasehold and air rights parcels throughout the United States. He also has negotiated construction loans on behalf of developers of major New York residential condominium projects, and has advised both operating and equity partners in connection with equity contributions and financings of multifamily, office, residential condominium and hotel projects.

    Experience

    • Represented an investment fund in the issuance of an approximately $750 million equity contribution in connection with the acquisition of all publicly traded common shares of a REIT owning various multifamily properties throughout the Southwest United States.

    • Represented The Georgetown Company in securing a $410 million financing package from Société Générale for 787 11th Ave.

    • Represented various investors in connection with the origination and subsequent modification of approximately $310 million in secured and unsecured preferred equity investments relating to the ground-up development of a New York residential condominium tower.

    • Represented a REIT in the repurchase of $400 million in mezzanine debt.

    • Negotiated on behalf of the borrower parties $2.6 billion in mortgage and mezzanine financing secured by the fee interest in a hotel/casino in Las Vegas, NV.

    • Represented JEMB Realty in securing a $250 million mortgage and mezzanine refinancing of 75 Broad St., a 34-story, 650,000-square-foot office building in Manhattan’s Financial District.

    • Represented a developer in obtaining approximately $426 million in construction financing for a New York residential condominium.

    • Represented an institutional lender in connection with the origination of an approximately $60 million mortgage loan secured by a hotel in Miami, FL.

    • Represented a private equity fund in the origination and subsequent modification of a development loan secured by a hotel, restaurant and lounge located in midtown Manhattan.

    • Represented a real estate investor in originating an approximately $150 million predevelopment bridge mortgage and mezzanine loan secured by fee and air rights parcels, and represented the investor in its subsequent foreclosure on such loans.

    • Represented multiple portfolio lenders in connection with the origination, servicing, and subsequent modification, syndication and workout of acquisition, term and construction loans secured by office, retail, multifamily and hospitality properties throughout the United States.

    • Advised an operating partner in connection with approximately $450 million in construction financing and equity contributions associated with the development of a New York residential condominium project.

    • Advised an equity partner in connection with the renovation of a New Orleans hotel through mortgage and historic tax credit equity financing.
