• Aakash Jariwala works on intellectual property matters, in particular on patent litigation. Aakash works with clients across a range of technology sectors, including semiconductors, computer security software, air disc brakes and telecommunication networks. He has assisted in patent litigation at every stage, including as a trial team member, taking and defending depositions, arguing motions, and drafting motions and claim construction briefs. Aakash has also assisted in drafting inter partes review petitions and responses.

Aakash was a member of a trial team that obtained an award of nearly $40 million for Finjan Inc., a computer and network security company, in a patent infringement action against Blue Coat Systems Inc. in the Northern District of California. Following a two-week jury trial, the jury returned a unanimous verdict that Blue Coat had literally infringed four Finjan patents and had infringed a fifth patent under the doctrine of equivalents. He also represented Prism Technologies in complex, high-stakes patent suits against five cellular carriers alleging infringement of patents developed by Prism related to technologies that enable access to data services on mobile devices. Prism obtained a favorable settlement in one case, hours before closing arguments after a seven-day trial, and a jury verdict in its favor in another case.

Aakash also commits time to representing clients pro bono, including seeking asylum for a Tibetan refugee and representing the corporation counsel of New York City Law Department in civil depositions.

Prior to law school, Aakash worked as an engineer on military technologies and commercial products involving radar systems and satellite communications.
