Current Openings

Payroll Manager

Daily management and oversight of the firm’s U.S. multi-offices semi-monthly payroll function using Ceridian/Dayforce software. Includes preparation of payroll general ledger journal entries to record legal/non-legal compensation and the timely preparation of all payroll funding notices and related documentation for submission to the Finance and Accounting Department. Collaboration with the Finance and Accounting Department is integral to this position. Supervision and training of payroll staff, as required. 

  • Review and process semi-monthly payrolls to include changes related to new hires, terminations, employee status/pay rate changes, benefit deductions, vacation pay, hourly staff wage payments, garnishments, taxes and other payroll deductions. Ensure accurate and timely processing of payrolls and submit payroll funding requirements to Firm’s Accounting Treasury team.
  • Process approved bonus payrolls and other supplemental wage payments including taxable addbacks. Arrange for approved manual checks for terminated employees in California Office, if applicable.
  • Process employees’ withholding changes. Ensures compliance with federal, state and local  wage and hour laws and adhere to Firm’s HR and Accounting departments’ best practices and internal controls.
  • Oversight of distribution of annual W-2 forms to employees.
  • Prepare semi-annual payroll and bonus journal entries for general ledger group.
  • Prepare monthly payroll reconciliation workpapers including voluntary benefits deduction accounts, fall associate loans and income partner compensation reports. Provide documentation for annual financial statement, insurance and payroll related tax audits.
  • Participate in orientations for new hires on payroll function, including personal tax withholding questions.

Qualifications:

    • College degree with some accounting/business courses.
    • Certified Payroll Professional preferred.
    • 5+ years of related experience at a large law firm with multiple offices or professional service firm in a managerial supervisory capacity.
    • Salary range: $100,000 – $140,000, dependant upon experience level.

CLE and Pro Bono Coordinator

Provides critical administrative support, as a member of the Kramer Levin Professional Development team, for attorney training and development and the firm’s pro bono program.

  • Maintains and administers the CE Manager platform; maintains CLE-related records and firm’s accredited provider status; tracks firm lawyers’ CLE compliance and admission status in various jurisdictions; maintains the CLE calendar and coordinates CLE set up, including reserving rooms, administering web conferences, meeting technology, and other event details; ensures the accuracy of team databases; assists with coordinating in-house Continuing Legal Education (CLE) programs in general.  
  • Coordinates the day-to-day data entry and administration of the internal training portal, including editing, organizing, and uploading content.
  • Supports the Professional Development team by gathering, organizing, and disseminating information related to the firm’s performance-evaluation, on-boarding / integration, and training initiatives; synthesizes data in response to external surveys and other requests; assists with administration of the attorney evaluation platform; works with the firm’s external CLE providers.
  • Collaborates with members of the Professional Development team to assist with the implementation of the firm’s mentoring programs and organization of morale-building events.
  • Assists with the administration of the firm’s extensive pro bono initiatives, including risk management, matter opening process and tracking active matters. Works with our pro bono legal services organizations to arrange pro bono trainings and clinics on topics of interest. Maintains various pro bono databases, synthesizes data in response to various external surveys, and promotes pro bono program and achievements through newsletters, website, and other outlets.
  • Works on other Legal Talent (Professional Development and Legal Recruiting) initiatives and projects as assigned.

Qualifications:

    • Bachelor’s degree and relevant experience, preferably in a large law firm environment, required.
    • Must be a motivated self-starter and a thoughtful, detail-oriented, creative, resourceful, and resilient problem-solver with an interest in lawyer development, training, and pro bono, and the ability to demonstrate sensitivity to (and good judgment in connection with) confidential attorney and firm matters.
    • Strong interpersonal skills with ability to work both independently and as a team player.
    • Established project-management, execution, and organizational skills and the ability to perform detailed work accurately, thoroughly, and consistently.
    • Technical and computer skills necessary; must be proficient at Outlook, PowerPoint, and Excel; advance knowledge of viEval, CE Manager or similar, a plus.
    • Some knowledge of CLE requirements and compliance standards a plus.
    • Salary range: $70,000 – $80,000, dependent upon experience level.

CLE and Pro Bono Specialist

Provides essential support and subject-matter expertise, as a member of the Kramer Levin Professional Development team, for attorney training and development initiatives and the firm’s pro bono program. 

  • Leads the administration of the CE Manager platform at the firm; maintains CLE-related records and firm’s accredited provider status; tracks firm lawyers’ CLE compliance and admission status in various jurisdictions and serves as a resource for interpreting and applying CLE requirements; maintains the CLE calendar and manages CLE set up, including reserving rooms, administering web conferences, meeting technology, and other event details; ensures the accuracy of team databases; assists with coordinating in-house Continuing Legal Education (CLE) programs in general.  
  • Manages the internal training portal, including content organization, quality control, and regular updates.
  • Supports the Professional Development team in the execution of strategic talent development initiatives, including performance evaluations, onboarding and integration, and attorney training. Analyzes data for internal and external reporting and manages components of the attorney evaluation platform. Coordinates with external CLE providers to support training efforts.
  • Collaborates with members of the Professional Development team to assist with the implementation of the firm’s mentoring programs and organization of morale-building events.
